Web Design

Bethany United Methodist Church
Created this site’s original design and constructed all original pages. Worked with staff graphic designer for site artwork. The site was turned over to church staff in May 2004 for daily maintenance, however I still provide technical direction and assistance.

Charleston County Government
From the site’s inception in 1997 until August 2004, I managed the site’s development, including all static content for the site and weekly updates, and coordinated with technical staff who developed various interactive databases. In 2001, I worked with a team to redesign the site. Throughout the process, I worked to ensure the consistency of information and look for the site’s sub webs and developed training sessions to educate contributing staff members about good web design and navigation, as well as the importance of coordinating visual and textual elements. As seen in the link above, the site was redesigned again after I left the organization. However, the content on the site remains virtually unchanged from the site I worked to design. I’m working to obtain screen shots from the 2003 site.

Developed the redesigned layout for this site. The original site (jpg-239K) was developed by technical staff and left the user to decipher the difference between “employee tools” and “county workplace” links, among other navigational problems. The new site eases the navigation process and allows employees to find and use the information contained within the site. Within the first two months after the redesign was implemented, employee visits to the site increased by 75 percent – from 8,101 to 10,816 visits per month.

Web-enabled this 433-page document and created a corresponding file for distribution on CD-ROM. The actual web version is broken into smaller files for ease of downloading. The sample shown here is the CD-ROM version with bookmarks.
